Over the years since the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration opened, some Guidelines for Conduct have been written and distributed as a source of information for new adorers and as a reminder for experienced adorers. By following these guidelines, the solemnity of the Chapel will be preserved, and the appearance of the facility maintained. RESPECT No one should
ever touch the Monstrance, the vessel which holds the consecrated Host. In
the Adoration Chapel silent prayer is essential. Praying aloud or in a
group is disturbing to others. If your relief does not show up at the end of your hour, and you are unable to stay an additional hour, please call your coordinator for assistance. If you cannot reach your coordinator, call any of the other coordinators listed. THE CHAPEL MUST NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED. ATTIRE Dress modestly. We suggest that you dress as you would to attend Mass. However, if you are passing the Chapel while jogging or shopping and desire to drop in for a moment of prayer, dress should not be a deterrent. If coming to the Chapel directly from work or gardening, check your shoes for mud or other soiling substances. SECURITY We have had only minor problems in all the years the Chapel has been open. For adorers with nocturnal hours, the entrance door to the hallway can be locked so that no one can enter unless you let them in. PHONE There is a phone located in the Chapel, near the log book. Please limit phone use to Chapel matters only. Turn off all personal cell phones and pagers before entering the Chapel. RESTROOM Located adjacent to the Chapel is a restroom that is intended for the convenience of adorers only. PARKING There are a couple of parking spaces reserved for adorers near the entrance to the Chapel. Please do not block traffic routes in the parking lot. LOG BOOK Please log your name and time of attendance in the book provided. AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING Thermostat is set for 74 degrees, and cannot be changed by adorers. If the weather is cool, you may want to bring a sweater or jacket with you. If the weather is warm, and you may want to turn on the fan provided. EATING/DRINKING Please do not bring any food or beverages into the chapel. Parents, monitor your children in this respect. FLOWERS, LITERATURE, PETITIONS Please refrain from placing flowers, candles, religious pictures, literature, and petition notes in the Chapel. Petitions should be written only in the petition book provided in the Chapel. If you bring your own reading material, please take it with you when you leave. All of the above is intended to prevent cluttering of the Chapel. DEVOTION CANDLE The candle above the monstrance will be replaced when needed by the church staff. DONATIONS Donations to help maintain
the Chapel are welcome. There are envelopes for this purpose in the top
drawer of the cabinet near the phone. You may drop the envelope in the
mail slot at the Rectory or place it in the collection basket at Mass. top |
